Certificate in Bible & Theology
The Certificate in Bible & Theology prepares men to grow in their knowledge of God and His Word without pursuing a pastoral ordination track. In the three-year course of study, open to men only, students come to know the Bible, the doctrine, and the history of Christ's Church. The certificate program is especially recommended to men who have been called to serve the church as an elder.
Classes are split between pre-recorded video classes, live video-conference classes, and self-guided independent studies.
Classes are split between pre-recorded video classes, live video-conference classes, and self-guided independent studies.
Students complete coursework primarily through live video-conference courses, with additional pre-recorded and self-guided courses as well as face-to-face contact through conferences and modules.
The 41-credit hour degree ($120/credit hour) can be completed in three academic years and two summers. Each fall begins with a mandatory on-site day-long module with introduction to courses for the semester. For the following fifteen weeks, students take two courses by participating in live video conference classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30-9PM. A self paced, pre-recorded class is also completed. The spring semester has the same format. Each year, students are strongly urged to attend NGA's Shepherds Conference.
Independent study papers (theological) are completed in the student's second or third year.
Men in the certificate program who are currently serving as elders are required to audit two pastoral theology courses during their third year of studies.
